My Story

Hello, I'm Maria Zakharchenko, and grooming isn't just a profession for me—it's a passion that has defined my journey for over 19 years. With a wealth of experience under my belt, I've honed my skills to become a trusted authority in the industry.

Originally from Ukraine, my grooming journey began against the backdrop of a veterinary career. In 2006, I made the transition to grooming, driven by a desire to connect more intimately with animals. Two years later, I took the leap and opened my first Spa salon in Kyiv. By 2017, my vision had expanded to encompass five thriving salons across the city.

In 2009, I founded MaryGroom, a grooming school dedicated to nurturing the next generation of groomers. This endeavor was complemented by the establishment of a retail grooming tools store and service center—a one-stop destination for grooming enthusiasts.

Not content with just grooming, I ventured into the realm of publishing in 2014, creating my grooming magazine, and assuming the role of Chief Editor for Groom Service. The following years saw me spearhead the creation of GroomFest, a prestigious grooming competition held in Kiev, Ukraine.

In 2017, I embarked on a new chapter, relocating to Valencia, Spain. Here, I've continued to share my expertise through Grooming Academy MaryGroom, an institution committed to grooming excellence. As an official Service Center of Andis and a grooming shop, we cater to the needs of groomers in Valencia and beyond.

My commitment to grooming education led me to join Alianz Europe as a grooming instructor, furthering my mission to elevate grooming standards across the continent. Alongside this, I've been an active participant in grooming competitions, clinching numerous accolades along the way.

In 2018, I proudly secured a spot on the Spanish ACW national grooming team, representing my adopted country in prestigious international competitions. Today, I'm privileged to conduct seminars throughout Europe, sharing insights gleaned from my extensive journey.

As an international ACW grooming judge, Andis teacher, and ambassador for Tauro Pro line brand in Spain and Ukraine, I remain dedicated to pushing the boundaries of grooming excellence. My journey is a testament to the transformative power of passion and dedication in realizing one's dreams.
