Course Description
Profile Basics introduces students to the fundamentals of creating pure breed grooming profiles. Building on foundational grooming and styling, this course emphasizes advanced technical skills, skin and coat care, trimming and shaping, and professional salon practices. Students will gain hands-on experience with salon safety, sanitation, equipment use, and beginner-level profile shaping techniques. Progress checkpoints occur at 100 and 200 hours, with a final comprehensive evaluation upon completion.
Course Objectives
Technical Skills
Perform nail filing and trimming.
Provide ear, oral, and anal gland care safely.
Skin & Coat Care
Bathe and dry all coat types (brush, force, kennel drying).
Brush dry and wet coats effectively.
Perform de-shedding, de-packing, de-matting, carding, combing, and raking.
Apply hand-stripping to determined coat types.
Trim, blend, and shape with thinning shears, scissors, and snap-on combs.
Clip wet and dry coats to basic grooming standards.
Professional Skills
Demonstrate professionalism, communication, and teamwork.
Practice safe and gentle handling of pets.
Use the buddy system effectively.
Exhibit time management and maintain a professional salon image.
Salon Organization & Sanitation
Organize and sanitize grooming tools, stations, tubs, and kennels.
Maintain safety and cleanliness across salon areas.
Products, Equipment & Tools
Demonstrate basic product knowledge for bathing and styling.
Identify, operate, and maintain grooming tools and equipment safely.
Upon successful completion, students will be able to:

Online Courses
Our program includes a series of online theory courses that are required for all students. These courses are fully integrated into the curriculum and are designed to provide the foundational knowledge needed before and during hands-on training. Students must complete each online course as part of their progression through the program, and successful completion is required to receive credit, advance to practical coursework, and graduate.
